Kenya Airways’ Grounded Aircraft Scheduled to Return to Service

Kenya Airways has announced that one of the three grounded Dreamliner Aircraft is set to return to service according to Kenya Airways’ group Managing Director and CEO Allan Kilavuka.

In his communication, Allan announced that one of the dreamliners previously grounded due to industry supply chain constraints is scheduled to return to service on July 22, 2025.

“This is a significant milestone for our fleet and operations. The return of the Dreamliner will not only alleviate the capacity constraints that had shrunk by 20% due to the grounding but also enhance our capacity back to 85%, ensuring a smoother travel experience for our customers” noted Kilavuka.

Kenya Airways anticipates having the second Dreamliner back into operations on September 25, 2025, and the third one by December 19, 2025. Plans are underway to increase seat capacity with the addition of 3 narrow-body aircraft, which will increase Kenya Airways’ seat capacity by offering an additional 528 seats and belly capacity increase by 239% by Q4 of 2025.

Mr. Allan Kilavuka further noted that safety as the cornerstone of Kenya Airways’ operations and travel demand surging during this time, the airline is eager to provide its passengers with additional capacity and comfort.

“Our commitment to your safety and well-being is unwavering, and we are dedicated to providing you with the best possible service. We appreciate your continued understanding and support during this period.” Noted Kilavuka

Mr. Kilavuka concluded by thanking Kenya Airways’ employees, who continue to provide exceptional service to their customers with genuine African warm hospitality.
