No Survivors as Cessna Crashes Near Juba, South Sudan

A Cessna 208 Caravan operated by CityLink Aviation Ltd crashed about 20 kilometres southwest of Juba on Monday morning, killing all 14 people on board, the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has confirmed.
The aircraft, registration 5Y-NOK, departed Yei at 09:15 AM local time and was en route to Juba International Airport when it lost communication at 09:43 AM.
On board were 13 passengers and one pilot, identified only as the Captain. Among the 14 victims, two were Kenyan nationals and 12 were South Sudanese nationals, according to the aviation authority.
Preliminary reports indicate that adverse weather conditions, particularly low visibility, may have caused the crash.
“The SSCAA response team has been dispatched to the site to gather information and support emergency and recovery efforts,” the authority said in a statement. “Unfortunately, there were no survivors.”
The SSCAA extended its deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those affected by the tragedy.
