7th EAC Aviation Symposium Opens in Mombasa, Kenya

The 7th East African Community (EAC) Aviation Symposium officially opened today in Mombasa, Kenya, under the theme: “Advancing Aviation Excellence: Towards Connected, Sustainable and Safer Skies.”
The symposium is to be held on 14–15 May 2026, and the two-day event will bring together aviation stakeholders from across the region and beyond to discuss the future of aviation in East Africa and beyond.
The symposium is organized under the auspices of the EAC Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA). It serves as a strategic platform for raising awareness and addressing critical issues affecting aviation safety, security, and sustainability at both regional and global levels.
The theme reflects the region’s commitment to strengthening collaboration, enhancing aviation safety standards, promoting sustainability, and improving connectivity to support economic growth and regional integration.
Key focus areas of the symposium include:
- Aviation as a Catalyst for Tourism and Trade – including route development and cargo corridor expansion, as well as harmonization of visa policies to promote intra-regional travel.
- Funding and Financing Mechanisms – exploring public-private partnerships (PPPs), donor coordination, innovation funding, and the development of a regional aviation project pipeline.
- Next Generation of Aviators – capacity building and training to prepare the future workforce for the aviation industry.
