7th EAC Aviation Symposium closes with special emphasis on Aviation Safety Culture

The 7th Edition of the East African Community Aviation Symposium has ended today May 15 2026 in Mombasa, Kenya.

The two day event has been running under the theme “Advancing Aviation Excellence towards connected, sustainable and Safer skies”.

The symposium, opened by the Chairman Board of Directors of Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Mr. Brown M. Ondego EBS saw various speakers from across different aviation eco-system discuss areas of trade and tourism using aviation as a catalyst, next generation of Aviators, green aviation and environmental sustainability.

The final day of the event has seen various aviators exchange ideas on aviation safety culture, digital connectivity, cyber security, operational efficiency in service delivery and seamless airspace integration.

All speakers emphasized the need for safer skies in order to enhance service delivery in the aviation sector.

The Director Safety Security & Economic regulation at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Eng.Ronny Barongo emphasized the need to maintain both formal and informal clear lines of communication so that no one loses anything in communication.

Eng. Barongo also emphasized the need for advance planning and oversight so that security inspectors’ activities are well aligned with their mandates.

The 7th symposium closed with 9 resolutions read by Ms. Winnie Ngamije Deputy Director General of Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority who represented Dr. Ayiei Garang Deng, Chairperson, EAC CASSOA Board. All 9 resolutions read were seconded and adopted by members in attendance.

In her closing remarks, the Principal Secretary of state department for aviation and aerospace development under the ministry of roads and transport of Kenya Ms. Teresia Mbaika CBS. warmly welcomed support from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for supporting capacity building within the African continent.
