Ethiopian Airlines Launches New Passenger Route to Hanoi

Ethiopian Airlines has announced the launch of a new passenger route connecting its hub in Addis Ababa to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The new service is scheduled to begin on July 10, 2025, and will operate four times a week, further strengthening air connectivity between Africa and Southeast Asia.

The route will be served by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, offering passengers a comfortable and efficient long-haul travel experience. Departures from Addis Ababa are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 10:30 PM, with arrivals in Hanoi at 1:10 PM the following day. Return flights from Hanoi will depart on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 2:10 PM, landing in Addis Ababa at 9:35 PM.

According to the airline’s official statement, this new connection will allow seamless access to Ethiopian Airlines’ expansive global network, which spans destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

Enhancing African–Asian Air Connectivity

Ethiopian Airlines is a leading carrier in the African-Asian aviation corridor. Currently, it operates an average of 114 weekly flights to Asia, connecting Addis Ababa with major cities including Bangkok, Mumbai, Delhi, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Tokyo-Narita, and Kuala Lumpur, among others. These services represent a monthly seat capacity of approximately 120,000.

The airline dominates the African-Asian market in terms of seat capacity, holding a commanding 36.9% share, ahead of competitors such as EgyptAir (10.3%) and Uganda Airlines (3.8%).

With the introduction of the Addis Ababa–Hanoi route, Ethiopian Airlines continues to reinforce its status as a key global connector, expanding its footprint and offering greater travel options for both business and leisure passengers worldwide.
