UCAA Hosts Defence Intelligence and Security Students at Entebbe Airport

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) hosted students from the School of Defence Intelligence and Security in Migyera, Nakasongola District, on 11th August 2015 at Entebbe International Airport for an in-depth engagement on border security threats and management strategies.
The visit aimed to familiarise the students with key aspects of border security, including emerging threats, intelligence roles, and inter-agency coordination mechanisms.
Chief Liaison Officer Airports, Maj. Emilio Ebema, delivered a detailed presentation covering geo-political factors affecting border security, aviation-related threats, transnational crimes, security zoning of Entebbe International Airport, and best practices in border management.
Following the briefing, the delegation — led by the School’s Commandant, Col. James Muhumuza — toured the airport’s secure areas under the guidance of UCAA’s Aviation Security and Public Affairs departments.
Col. Muhumuza commended UCAA for its hospitality and the valuable insights shared. UCAA Director General, Mr. Fred Bamwesigye, emphasised the strategic importance of Entebbe International Airport, noting that it serves as a vital entry point for most tourists to Uganda and plays a critical role in the nation’s aviation industry.
