South African Airways to Launch Direct Flights to Gaborone, Botswana

South African Airways (SAA) has announced the introduction of a new twice-daily service between Johannesburg and Gaborone, Botswana, beginning Tuesday, 4 November 2025. Bookings are now open on flysaa.com.

The new route marks a significant expansion of SAA’s regional network, enhancing connectivity for both business and leisure travellers. By linking Johannesburg and Gaborone with direct, frequent flights, the airline aims to provide passengers with greater convenience and strengthen ties between the two neighbouring countries.

Flight Schedule:

SAA will operate two return services daily, seven days a week:

Morning Service:

Departs Johannesburg at 06:50, arriving in Gaborone at 07:45.

Return departs Gaborone at 08:25, landing in Johannesburg at 09:25.

Afternoon Service:

Departs Johannesburg at 16:25, arriving in Gaborone at 17:20.

Return departs Gaborone at 18:00, arriving in Johannesburg at 19:00.

Strengthening Regional Ties

Group CEO, Prof John Lamola, highlighted the broader impact of the new route: “The launch of this service not only strengthens the cultural and economic ties between Botswana and South Africa but also reinforces SAA’s position as a premium network carrier.
