Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Tees Off Aviation Week with Senior Golf Tournament Partnership

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has announced a strategic partnership with the nation’s senior golfing community for the upcoming Uganda Senior’s Golf Tournament. The event is slated for December 6-7, 2025, at the prestigious Uganda Golf Club.

This collaboration forms a central part of UCAA’s activities to celebrate the annual Aviation Week, observed globally during the first week of December. Aviation Week commemorates the historic signing of the Chicago Convention on December 7, 1944, which led to the establishment of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the framework for modern global air transport.

At a press conference held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the Ag. Director General of UCAA, Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya, highlighted the synergy between the two spheres. “This partnership is a natural fit,” stated Ms. Lumonya. “Many of our distinguished senior golfers are frequent fliers and valued users of the services and facilities at Entebbe International Airport. This tournament is not just a sporting event; it is an engagement with key stakeholders who experience our work firsthand. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our shared commitment to excellence, safety, and service within a community context.”

The Uganda Senior’s Golf Tournament is expected to draw prominent figures from various sectors, all of whom are aviation enthusiasts and regular passengers. By sponsoring and participating in the tournament, UCAA aims to foster stronger community relations and raise awareness about the critical role of civil aviation in Uganda’s economic and social development.

The 2025 Aviation Week celebrations, under the theme of connecting communities and nations, will use events like the golf tournament to make the industry’s contributions more visible and accessible to the public. The Uganda Golf Club, a landmark in Ugandan sports, provides an ideal venue for this confluence of sport, industry, and legacy.

UCAA invites the public and media to follow the proceedings of the tournament as it kicks off a week dedicated to honoring the past, present, and future of aviation in Uganda and across the world.
