Strategic Expansion: Space and Sustainability Take Centre Stage

Moving beyond traditional aviation, the airshow is placing significant emphasis on two defining industry trends: the expansion into space and the push for sustainability.

A Giant Leap for the UAE Space Ambitions

The UAE Space Agency is hosting its largest-everSpace Pavilion, transforming a segment of the airshow into a hub for interplanetary discussion. A dedicated two-day conference with over 50 speakers will tackle topics from responsible space activity to future exploration missions.

“Dubai Airshow represents a leading global platform to showcase the remarkable progress the UAE has achieved in the space sector,” said Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency. “This expansion is a direct reflection of our national strategy to build a comprehensive and sustainable space economy.”

Sustainability as a Core Operational Principle

Sustainability is woven into the fabric of the event; Key initiatives include:

  • The use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for participating aircraft.
  • Electric and propane-powered ground support equipment in partnership with Jetex.
  • Exhibition halls powered by renewable electricity.
  • A “world-first” fully sustainable aircraft turnaround demonstration.

“The Sustainability Showcase, organised with our partners, is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to decarbonising aviation operations,” said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, which is hosting a keynote track on air traffic growth and digital transformation.
