AviaDev Africa 2026 Conference Kicks Off Today in Botswana

The 2026 edition of the AviaDev Africa Conference officially opened today, 10th June 2026, in Gaborone, Botswana, with delegates from across Africa and beyond already in attendance.

The conference brings together international airline representatives, airport executives, tourism authorities, and key aviation stakeholders to deliberate on air connectivity and route development opportunities across the continent.

Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, His Honour Ndaba Gaolathe, officiated at the opening ceremony, underscoring the significance of the conference to Botswana’s aviation and tourism sectors.

Hosting AviaDev Africa provides Botswana with a strategic platform to showcase its unique tourism offerings, attract investment, and advocate for enhanced air connectivity into the country. Improved air access has the potential to boost tourism, trade, and economic growth.

As part of the programme, international airline representatives will today embark on a familiarisation tour of the Okavango Delta, offering them a first-hand experience of Botswana’s unique tourism appeal. The tour has been generously sponsored by Africa’s Eden, Mack Air, and Mugg & Bean. Such initiatives play a critical role in enabling airline decision-makers to gain a deeper appreciation of the destination and identify potential opportunities for future air routes into Botswana.

Botswana’s hosting of AviaDev Africa 2026 further reinforces its position as an emerging aviation and tourism hub on the continent, while demonstrating its commitment to strengthening regional and international connectivity.

The three‑day event is expected to host over 600 delegates from across the globe, including 110 airline representatives from 50 airlines looking to expand their networks and fleets, as well as airport operators and service providers that believe in the African opportunity.
