Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Hosts a Search and Rescue Steering Committee (AMSARCC) Meeting
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Transport, on July 2, 2025 hosted a Search and Rescue Steering Committee (AMSARCC) Meeting at Skyz Protea Hotel, Naguru.
The meeting focused on adopting the Technical Committee Report and validating the revised National Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) Plan, a key step toward enhancing the country’s SAR preparedness and coordination mechanisms.
The meeting was officially opened by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Mr. Bageya Waiswa, who emphasized the significance of regional cooperation in strengthening national SAR capabilities. “Search and Rescue is not just a compliance issue but a critical service that speaks to our collective responsibility to protect lives across air and maritime domains,” he noted.
The meeting brought together representatives from various government agencies and stakeholders to review progress, exchange operational best practices, and explore strategies to harmonize SAR planning, training, and response across the country. “UCAA remains committed to working with regional and global partners to strengthen SAR capabilities. The insights shared during this meeting will guide future improvements to Uganda’s national SAR plan and response readiness,” he stated.
Mr. Bamwesigye also extended his appreciation to all participants, partners, and stakeholders for their valuable engagement and reaffirmed UCAA’s commitment to advancing aviation safety across the country.
