Boeing Opens Office in Addis Ababa-Ethiopia

The Boeing Company, an America multinational aircraft manufacturing giant has opened an office in Addis Ababa- Ethiopia, making it the second Boeing company office on the African continent.

This new Boeing’s administrative hub will enhance Boeing’s ability to serve its airline customers and partners across Africa, reinforcing Boeing’s commitment to the region’s growing aerospace industry and building on their 75-year legacy in Africa.

Guests that honored Boeing’s Ethiopian hub opening ceremony included; H.E Dr. Alemu Seme, Minister of Transport & Logistics, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E Ervin Massinga, United States Ambassador to Ethiopia, Getachew Mengiste, Director General, Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, Mesfin Tassew, Chief Executive Officer, Ethiopian Airlines Group.

Also in attendance was Boeing’s Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, and Central Asia President Kuljit Ghata-Aura, Boeing Africa sales and marketing VP Anbessie Yitbarek and Boeing Africa MD Henok Teferra Shawl.

“Boeing’s expanded footprint in Africa is a testament to our commitment to the region’s aerospace industry,” affirmed Boeing Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, and Central Asia president Kuljit Ghata-Aura. “This office will allow us to work closely with our more than 60 customers on the continent, forge strategic partnerships, enhance safety standards and contribute to the ongoing efforts to expand Africa’s aviation industry, which is a key driver of the region’s economy.”

Boeing is the number one supplier of airliners (including air cargo aircraft) to African carriers. It works closely with them to modernize their fleets and reinforce safety standards, through training and the provision of digital tools. It works with the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the Africa Airlines Association, to support African initiatives to align aviation regulations, increase operational efficiency and ensure that air transport operations are safe.
